Services  /  Retention & CRM

The second booking is the profitable one.

An OTA booking gives you a traveller once. A direct booking gives you their email address. That single difference is the entire argument for owning your channel — and most operators never act on it.

Retention in travel means using the customer data a direct booking gives you: a CRM holding every enquiry and booking, pre-trip and post-trip email and WhatsApp flows, review requests timed to peak satisfaction, and segmentation that treats repeat travellers, agents and group organisers differently.

The problem

Why this usually isn't working

Most operators fight hard for a direct booking and then do nothing with what they won. The traveller comes to Egypt, has a good time, goes home, and is never contacted again. The email address sits in an inbox.

That's the expensive part. You paid full acquisition cost for a customer who would have booked again — or told three friends — for almost nothing, and you let the relationship expire.

Retention is where a direct-booking strategy actually pays for itself. The commission you saved is the headline. The second booking is where the maths gets interesting.

You fought for the direct booking. Then you let the relationship expire.

What's included

Six things you actually get

01 CRM setupTravora or your existing system configured so enquiries, bookings, suppliers and history live in one place instead of four.
02 Email flowsPre-trip, in-trip and post-trip sequences that earn reviews and referrals as a by-product of being useful.
03 WhatsApp automationThe channel Egyptian travel actually runs on — automated where it saves time, human where it earns trust.
04 Review generationStructured requests timed to the moment satisfaction peaks, feeding the trust signals that also lift rankings.
05 SegmentationRepeat travellers, agents and group organisers treated differently, because they buy on completely different logic.
06 ReportingRepeat rate, lifetime value and direct share of bookings — the numbers that prove the whole strategy is working.

Questions

Before you ask.

Do we need a CRM to start?

You need somewhere the data lives that isn't one person's phone. Travora is ours and it's built for travel operations, but we'll work with what you have if it's fit for purpose.

Is WhatsApp automation allowed?

Yes, within WhatsApp Business API rules and with proper opt-in. Done badly it gets your number blocked, which is exactly why it's worth setting up properly.

How soon do we see results?

Review generation and post-trip flows show up within a season. Repeat bookings follow travel cycles — for Egypt inbound, expect to judge it over twelve to twenty-four months.

What about GDPR and consent?

Your source markets include the EU and UK, so it matters. We set up consent capture and preference management properly rather than hoping nobody checks.

Can this work if most bookings still come from OTAs?

Partly. You won't have the customer data from OTA bookings — that's the point of the argument. But the direct share you do have is where you start building.
